1st Day Recap

Hi Everyone,
The first day went pretty well! After we had an orientation session, we formed into groups for a scavenger hunt all throughout Christchurch. We had to ask people all these questions and it was hilarious. I have it all on camera. I was very impressed, however, when a New Zealander aka "kiwi" asked me if I knew where the library was. She thought I was a local, even though that really isn't a compliment considering the guys on the plane told me there are no cute girls in New Zealand!

I'm going to be honest and say dinner was disguisting. It was free, so hence the reason why. I had french fries and cheescake for dinner! So yummy and healthy, not! After that, I was exhausted but tried to stay up as last as possible. We decided to go to a karaoke bar and headed over to "Chrischurch Idol". It was $30 NZ for 11 of us to get a private room and sing karaoke. It was quite special. The chinese owner, Harry, was quite impressed with our skills. I have to say I think the karaoke title was a cover up for a prostitution ring. Needless to say, I bathed thoroughly after!!

Today
I am leaving for breakfast and classes in a few. Then a lunch break at 12:15 and then a tour of the Canterbury Museum from 1:30-3:30. I think tonight we might eat at a hot stone place where you cook your meat on the rock. Our teacher was telling us about it and we might try it out.

Tomorrow will be more lectures and then onto the Antartic Center for a few hours. Gotta run, I'll blog more later!

Allison
