On to Mt. Cook and Akoroa

Today we depart for Mt. Cook, I'm excited but it is about 20 degrees colder there.

Last night we went to the traditional meal and it was really fun. It was really intersting and way more in depth than I thought it would be. We travel through time from the traditional Maori huts to the British colonization times. The guy who started the tourist attraction told me that he has been asked to do one in the US about the Trail of Tears. However, it rained and was freezing cold the entire time. I am definitely not cut out for the weather over here. I woke up with a sore throat, but I hope I'm not getting sick! Anyways, the food was kind of gross at this place, so I ended up having dessert and New Zealand Merlot! Interesting combination for dinner, huh?

Tomorrow morning we have our first module due which consists of 4 essay questions that must be 250 words each. Each school is doing it differently, but we convinced our teacher to let us have an extension, so that was great! I'm still finding it hard to stay awake while reading it because some of the stuff is incredibly boring.

So in about an hour we leave for Mt. Cook and it will be a 6.5 hour bus ride. I've kind of claimed the front seat because I get carsick and it is even worse here because you are on the other side of the road! We are going to a sheep farm today and I can't wait for that. From here on out, each school (Penn St., Va Tech, UF) is assigned a day to help with loading the bus and making breakfast and/or dinner. Tonight Va Tech will be doing a BBQ, so I'll be interested to see what that is like. I'm nervous!!

Hopefully we will have internet tonight!! If not, everyone have a great weekend and hopefully I can post a few pictures soon. Honestly, I have taken a picture with all the different kinds of drinks I have had!! And don't worry I am collecting lots of stuff to make a scrapbook!

Love y'all,
Allison

  2. Hey Allison,

I've posted several messages when I was in North Carolina and for some reason they are not on here. I am going to try again.

I'm so glad you got there safely and you are having a good time. I'm sorry the food is that good but hopefully you'll have better luck at your next stop.

I can't wait to see the pictures you have taken. I know you will post them when you can.

I just got home from Tampa yesterday from visiting with Cindi. She is not doing good. It was a hard trip. I'm going to try and stay with her next week in the Hospice House to give her parents a break.

We all miss you and love you!
    Stay sweet,
    Mrs. C :) XOXOXO

  3. Allison,

I really enjoy your blog. It sounds like your having a lot of fun. Angel said she misses you and I know Kyle does too. We are leaving on our work trip next Sunday May 31st. The food sounds pretty bad. Kyle made us Chicken Marsala last night, it was awesome. Stay out of shady places and be safe. You'll be home before you know it.

    Love,
